It depends which test you are referring too, your dog has not yet been sequenced by us so I cannot provide much information about your pup specifically. For our genetic testing, it depends on what we have in our reference panel (located on our FAQ page).

We are constantly working to build our reference panel so that results are more accurate. Right now we are working on getting more American Pit Bull Terriers into our reference panel, so we should be able to tell reliable % of Pit Bull in your dog once sequenced! 🙂

Joyce, I think there has been a misunderstanding.

We NEVER delete dogs, even when they pass. Her profile is still up with all of her surveys, are you seeing something different?

If so please contact us via email and we can take a look at the formatting of the profile, but everything seems to be there. There are flagging options for Darwin’s Ark staff and for owners to mark a dog as passed, so that we know in our database.

Her information is still extremely valuable to us, and we plan to use each and every dogs behavioral information, unless requested by the owner that it not be used.

Hi Sarah,

Yes there are a few reason to why one of your dogs has been sent out for sequencing. The main reason being, we want to look at dogs that are on both ends of the spectrum when asking a participate question about a behavior. So in your case, your dog was prioritized because he was useful to help us better investigate a question we were asking. I hope this helps!

Thank you for reaching out. Since we have such a large number of samples we could not overwhelm the laboratory with all them at once, so they go out in manageable, organized and cost effective batches.

Your dogs DNA is still safe and remains stable. Your dogs sample has a spot to go out in our next batch we send, which will be in about 2-3 weeks. Then we will be able to work with his raw data to produce results for you, which will be uploaded to his profile for viewing.

We do apologize for the long wait, but are now catching up and doing our best to get the samples out as quickly as we can now.

This project was created from scratch, as we needed to find new and improved methods in order the see what your dogs are hiding in their DNA. Things are really moving along now since we have new option for participation, and have partnered with a wonderful lab to sequencing the samples.

We do have data your your girl, it was originally run as you know a while ago and since then we have create new and improved algorithms. Hi Mary,

Yes since you have funded her sample, it is actually going out for sequencing today! We have to send out samples in batchs of around 200 due to various reasons such as cost, keeping track of samples and not to overwhelm the lab.

In about 90-120 day we expect to have raw data back to us to analyze further and then we will be able to upload results to Izzy’s profile! Thank you so much for the donation and for funding your dogs sample. We are so excited to check out her information!
