We are fortunate that we are getting results back at all. If people have sick dogs and they think genetic testing will help, then they should pay to have genetic testing specific to the disease process done to get relevant results back faster. Darwin’s Ark doesn’t have to give us results. When I signed up years ago, it was stated that we may not even get the results, but that they hoped to make it happen. Just enjoy the fact that you’re contributing to research that could help a lot of animals in the future and that you will eventually get the results without paying for anything.

This is a research study. Research takes time and resources. If you want your dog’s DNA results in a timely fashion, there are plenty of for profit companies that will do it quickly for a fee. It astounds me how entitled people are and expect to get something for nothing. This DNA sequencing is NOT a service. I sent my dogs samples in 2 years ago and am still waiting. I will happily keep waiting because I understand the purpose of this study is not for my own gain, but for the gain of knowledge that could help humans and people in the future.
