So many interesting ideas here. I love dogs to the moon, and mine being of uncertain ancestry, and Awesome! it is interesting that people always want to know exactly what she is. They really don’t want to hear that she may be generations of mixes, it’s strange. Then, they want to profile based on what they think they see!
I love the mixes and I love the breeds. I hate the silly snobbishness.
There is breeding for money, breeding for the breed, I think you are very lucky if you find such a breeder. Some people worry that if dogs were neutered as the humane societies encourage, they would die out!
Now, after reading this thread, I have an answer for that one! I am happy to hear that the species is absolutely not in any danger of dying out!
It would be lovely if we could learn to care for them even better, feed them better, get rid of at least some of the diseases and allergies so many of them get.

I thought I’d run this by you. When I walk my dog on a leash, which is always, she always crosses in front of me, then she lags behind, then she crosses behind me and comes forward again. Basically circling around me. She does it over and over throughout the walk. It’s annoying because I have to either spin around or change hands with the leash, I can hardly stop her from doing it because she is determined, but can anyone tell me what she thinks she is up to? Is she circling to sort of claim me, or herd me? Anyone?
I have noticed that at times that I am a little wary of someone walking toward me, she will cross in front, blocking the person from me. I am pretty sure that is what she is doing there. What do you think?

I think the health of bull dogs and pugs could be improved if they were not breeding them just for that look. I read that in UK they are breeding bull dogs back to how they used to look rather than the cute caricatures they are now in the US. AKC is also at fault for making the standard basically an unhealthy dog, It is sad.
