Several years ago I took her to a parade, as we made our way down the crowded sidewalk to meet up with friends, Scruffy thought everyone was there to see her. She stopped and greeted almost everyone and she still loves to be the center of attention wherever she goes. 2 LikesLoading... Sex: Female Owner's Stated Breed Mix: Dog description
Ariel is a cuddle bug. She is happiest when she is being petted and fussed over by people, but her next favorite thing to do is sniff to see where other dogs have been and mark that she’s been there, too! She will dig out of our yard or bolt out any open door in order to do this, earning the nickname “Princess Flight Risk!”
Ariel’s first DNA test said she was 25% Pomeranian, 12.5% German Spitz, 12.5% Basset Hound, and 50% “too mixed to tell.” We definitely see the Pom and Spitz, but are jaw-dropped at the presence of Basset Hound. Maybe that’s why she loves to sniff so much! Dog summary Ariel, aka “Princess Flight Risk,” is a 12 year young girl who loves to cuddle and meet new people. Quirk She drapes her paw over my wrist as I’m petting her, and sometimes “hugs” my hand with both paws! Does best Cuddles! Fun Story Soon after we moved into our new house, Ariel dug out of our yard and went adventuring around the neighborhood. We filled the hole… and she did it again, in a different spot. And again. And again.
Eventually, I got a text from a friend… “you need to check the unofficial town Facebook group.” Sure enough, there was a photo of Ariel and a post from a concerned neighbor who thought she was a lost dog. As Ariel was safely home at the time (she always came home after exploring, though she refused to let anyone catch her), I put up a photo of Ariel with this message:
“Hi new neighbors! My name is Ariel, though my pet parents call me Princess Flight Risk! I just moved here, and now I am FAMOUS because a nice neighbor put my picture up in this group! My new home has a nice fence around the back yard, and I am teaching my people how many ways I can get out of it. Don’t worry - I always come home! Unfortunately, my humans say I’ll need to stay on a long leash until they figure out a way to keep me in the yard, so I guess I’ll be seeing less of my adoring fans now!”
The post blew up, with over a hundred comments, many “from” other dogs! (And yes, we promptly put up a dog run that gives Princess Flight Risk plenty of room to explore… but no way to escape!) We’ve highlighted those most well suited breed mix for scruffy based on genome kit result. A dog that is brown (liver) produces eumelanin in its coat. Typically eumelanin produces black pigment, however dogs with two copies of the Liver gene, b, will result in all black pigment turning brown.
