Guam Island Dog

Dog summary

Brilliant problem solver. Wonderful for her, always fascinating but not always so wonderful for me

She appears to be multi lingual. I have taught her commands in English, French, Spanish, Hebrew and Haitian Patois. I do not use any hand/ body signals-I differ my vocal tone, inflections with each language-mind you we don't do anything complicated.

Fun Story

Friends doing research in Guam 6 yesrs ago. In their spare time they volunteered with a trap vaccinate/spay/neuter release program as there are so many strays on this island ( and precious few resources ), they knew I needed a special someone and felt that Charlotte would be a perfect match. Once she was trapped and spay she lived with them and their dog and became socialized very easily . She loves humans. Their friends donated the money to fly her to me in Vermont. It has been a nonstop love story ever since. Guam does not have skunks, squirrels, possums or raccoons. Our first walk together was on a warm fall evening and we manage to see all of those animals. I believe Charlotte thought she had landed on another planet. It took her about a year and a half to get used to all these weird critters now they don't faze her. The first time she saw snow she broke through my kitchen storm door and ran off with glee at 3 o'clock in the morning. This little island girl loves the snow.

What are these results saying? How did we get there?

We're trying to determine all the breeds and "non breeds" in your dog - 80% of dogs on earth don't have breed ancestry at all!

We're predicting your dog's mixes from the 93 breeds with open data for validity.

If your dog has unusual ancestry, we may not have an accurate match - yet! As our reference set grows, your dog's results might evolve, so check back for updates and new information as new data becomes available.

We share our breed determining methods openly.

Charlotte is maybe

18.3% German Shepherd Dog

Charlotte has us a bit confused. Our algorithm tells us that she is a mixed breed dog. We matched 18.3% of her ancestry to German Shepherd Dog. However, she wasn't a close enough match to any breed for us to be confident.

How did we get these results?

We used a combination of three statistics and Charlotte's DNA results but had difficulty determining what her ancestry was!
