Several years ago I took her to a parade, as we made our way down the crowded sidewalk to meet up with friends, Scruffy thought everyone was there to see her. She stopped and greeted almost everyone and she still loves to be the center of attention wherever she goes. 1 LikeLoading... Sex: Female Dog description
Black and white medium sized dog (42 lbs), pointy ears which are sometimes upright, shorthair with longer fur on tail and around neck, tail curls Dog summary Kiki is a rescue from the American South, a teen mom who made a new life in Canada Quirk While she will try to catch any cat that runs, if the cat holds it's ground she will be completely submissive towards it. This is fortunate since she lives with a cat. Does best Hunts squirrels (and rats, and raccoons, and birds...) Fun Story Kiki's puppyhood is a mystery but it seems to have included being trained to hunt squirrels. She is quite good at catching them and when she sees them she invariably goes after them. We were surprised to discover, however, that she also recognized the word "squirrel." One Christmas we were hanging ornaments and discussing where to put what, and as soon as we started talking about a wooden squirrel one she ran to the back door demanding to be let out to hunt even though there was no actual animal anywhere. Clearly someone taught her the word. Now we have to refer to them as "the S word" or she will get very excited.
We don't actually want her to hunt squirrels, or anything else, but she is very determined and has gotten several when off leash in the yard, as well as one when on leash in a park. And after killing she is very reluctant to relinquish her prey. She likes to carry them around. And she will hide the body to play with later. So we end up having to peer out the window until she retrieves the carcass and then charge out to take it before she can hide it again. She has several stuffed toys in the yard that she likes to kill, but she makes no attempt to keep them from us. Clearly she can tell the difference between make-believe and the real deal!
