Roxy was adopted from the humane society of Colorado Springs in August of 2017. They said she came from New Mexico and estimated her age at 1.5 years, making her about 5 now. We suspect that she came from the Navajo reservation, as they were working to reduce their feral dog population at that time.
She started out black with white markings typical of black lab or put bull mixes, but as she matured, she developed a silver tone on her flanks. She has a medium length double coat.
She is long legged, deep chested and muscular. Her head ears and eyes suggest pit bull ancestry. Her tail is very long and curls to a complete circle. She seems to have exceptional vision.
Personality wise, she is very friendly and sweet, loves to meet new people and dogs and generally well behaved. She comes when called outside, but the goal of playing fetch eludes her. Though she comes readily outside, she often acts aloof when relaxing inside, ignoring pleas from her humans to come sit with them. She definitely has some predatory instinct regarding small animals and had to be taught that the chickens are off limits. Dog summary Active and energetic 5 year old mixed breed rescue from NM, loves running. Quirk She only plays fetch inside the house. Outside, she chases the ball and leaves it. Does best Catching flying biscuits. Fun Story She got into trouble early on for trying to eat one of the chickens that jumped her fence on a regular basis. After that, she was well behaved whenever that bird was out. Months later, a different chicken jumped the fence and I caught Roxie chasing it around the yard, so she was in trouble again.
