    HI there,

How does this work? I want to get my dogs DNA tested but i have no idea how to go about doing it? What are the pros of finding out the breed.

First question … complete at least 10 of the surveys and you will qualify for a DNA kit … and you will have to be patient. This is a huge scientific research program which depends on donations and grants to fund the kits and results. 🙂 As for the pros … personally for me it is simply curiosity but there may (or may not) be advantages in knowing specifics of the breed(s) of your dog(s)

I agree David. I’m doing it strictly for my own curiosity, that’s why I would never have purchased it from a DNA testing company. I don’t think it really matters what breed they are, at least not to me. I have a dog trainer that I take classes from and she’s said that it might be a bit helpful with knowing how to train my dogs. Some breeds can have behaviors or things that drive them. Like mine we think has terrier in him cause he’s very reactive to motion. The other day he did something and she wondered if he had herding dog in him. I think most people don’t have dogs that are a nightmare like mine so it probably won’t matter as much. Lol. Ultimately we have pretty much figured out all his trouble areas and what works through trial and error. Another benefit could be that certain breeds might be more prone to certain diseases or illnesses and that could help to know what to look out for.

Where are the surveys located at? I am just curious too. My dog is a mix rescue and it would be fun to know what her dna is.

Thank you for the great replied David and Kristen! 🙂

Courtnie-quinton the surveys are located on your dogs profile. You will see on the right hand side “View Surveys”. A list of them will appear and you can start taking them! There are a total of 21 surveys, and as David mentioned, if you fill out at least 10 you will receive a discount if you decide to receive the kit ASAP and fund the sample so that you get through our process much quicker.

The more surveys you answer the better the analysis!
